Psalms 17

Prayer for Protection against Oppressors.

A Prayer of David.

1 Hear a ajust cause, Lord, bgive Your attention to my cry;
cListen to my prayer, which is not from ddeceitful lips.
2 Let emy
I.e., vindication
judgment come forth from Your presence;
Let Your eyes look with gintegrity.
3 You have hput my heart to the test;
You have visited me by night;
You have isifted me and jYou find
Or no shameful act in me; My mouth
nothing;
My lintent is that my mouth will not offend.
4 As for the works of mankind, mby the word of Your lips
I have kept from the nways of the violent.
5 My osteps have held to Your
Lit tracks
paths.
My qfeet have not slipped.

6 I have rcalled upon You, for You will answer me, God;
sIncline Your ear to me, hear my speech.
7 tShow Your wonderful faithfulness,
uSavior of those who take refuge
Or from those who rise up...at Your right hand
at Your right hand
From those who rise up against them.
8 Keep me as
Lit the pupil, the daughter of the eye
the xapple of the eye;
Hide me yin the shadow of Your wings
9 From the zwicked who deal violently with me,
My aadeadly enemies who surround me.
10 They have abclosed their
Lit fat
unfeeling hearts,
With their mouths they adspeak proudly.
11 They have now aesurrounded us in our steps;
They set their eyes afto cast us down to the ground.
12 He is aglike a lion that is eager to tear,
And as a young lion ahlurking in secret places.

13 aiArise, Lord, confront him, ajmake him bow down;
akSave my soul from the wicked with alYour sword,
14 From people by amYour hand, Lord,
From people
Or whose portion in life is of the world
of the world, aowhose portion is in this life,
And whose belly You apfill with Your treasure;
They are satisfied with children,
And leave their abundance to their babies.
15 As for me, I shall aqbehold Your face in righteousness;
arI shall be satisfied with Your aslikeness when I awake.
